Saltbird Cellars
Before launching her own label, Winemaker Robin Epperson-McCarthy spent her formative years honing her craft by working harvests in the Awatere & Marlborough Valleys of New Zealand, the Tamar River Valley in Tasmania, and the Macedon Ranges in Australia. Her deep roots on Long Island and travels on the other side of the globe are expressed in this focused series, where she applies the methods from her travels to the very best blocks of North Fork fruit. The name “Saltbird” is an imagined creature evoking Robin’s love for maritime life, a tribute to her love of sailing and the sea. Saltbird Cellars represent the freedom to follow your passion, no matter where it takes you.
This unoaked Chardonnay greets the nose with apple blossom and citrus, leading to a round and lemony palate. Enjoy it as an aperitif or pair it with bright, seafood dishes!
This tropical, unoaked Sauvignon Blanc is lean and sophisticated, but also playful! The scent of honeydew melon and summer rain leads to fresh papaya, lemongrass, and pineapple.
The aroma of citrus, apple blossom, and freshly cut ginger emanates from a glass of this 100% North Fork Sauvignon Blanc. Notes of pineapple, white plums, and marzipan are followed by a long and textured finish, thanks to its gentle, neutral oak aging.
A medium-bodied, harmonious marriage of Syrah and Petit Verdot: lush pomegranates and tart cherries complemented by fennel, white pepper, and dark floral notes. Pair with roasts or hard-aged cheeses.
Merlot's luscious nose of dark chocolate cake, ripe berries, and fresh mint are coupled with Cabernet Sauvignon's structured tannins and coffee chicory.
The 100% North Fork Merlot is the antithesis to those mass-produced wines of the early aughts—ripe berry bramble coupled with the smooth and velvet tannins of a bar of dark chocolate.
