2019 Saltbird Cellars RED SKIES
Greeted with the scent of spring blossoms, this fresh blend of Syrah & Cabernet Sauvignon emanates notes of ripe raspberry, cranberry jam, cracked black pepper, and darker tones of dates, and molasses.
The Syrah was picked in mid-October when Syrah crosses over from green pepper notes to spicy peppercorns with heavy floral aromas and deep red fruits. The Cabernet Sauvignon was held until November on the vine to take advantage of the long North Fork growing season. Barrel-aged for 16 months in a mix of new and neutral oak with only a few gentle rackings.
80% Syrah, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon
