2013 BOE Merlot 10-Year Anniversary Edition
Tasting Notes
Taste complex layers of fruit, earthiness, and deep color in a balanced blend. It’s thoroughly drinkable, without being overly tannic. The 2013 vintage displays Merlot’s characteristic black cherry, blackberry, and currant, highlighted with a bouquet of spices, pepper, smokiness, and coffee. The structure and body of the wine give it the strength to age. It’s a wine that’s delicious on its own or paired with steak dishes, lamb roasts, grilled vegetables, and sharp or earthy cheeses.
Process
Each of the varietals was fermented separately in stainless steel tank, with daily punch-downs. They were then aged in new, second-year, and third-year French oak barrels; the Merlot for 15 months, and the Petit Verdot and Cabernet Sauvignon for 18 months.
Varietals
94% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Cabernet Sauvignon.
